A number of issues had made members uneasy about the way the society was being run. During the autumn, there were additional concerns which did not appear to being heard or addressed and the only route open to air these issues was to call an SGM.

A major issue was unwillingness to engage with the members.
Not telling us what they were doing
The committee appeared to operate under a cloak of secrecy. Of particular concern was the appointment of the new Musical Director. The advertisement, and the way in which the choir was presented to potential applicants, was not shared with the members. We had to hunt it down on Facebook. Practically nothing was shared about the process and nothing about the candidates, even up to the auditions.
Not asking for or considering our views
The views are the choir are not solicited. Surely we should have been asked what we wanted from our new Musical Director. When members do voice an opinion, for example on voice tests, their views carry no weight, and indeed some members have been told to stop writing or leave.
