What type of choir do we want to be?
- A choir with a high musical standard, like Gloucester Choral? Auditions are generally required Membership is not guaranteed. In the last few weeks Adrian Partington has "weeded out" several sopranos.
- A relaxed choir like Wycliffe, friendly, inclusive but with less ambition?
- Or do we, Stroud Choral sit somewhere in the middle?
The members forum believe we need to engage the members in this debate, it underpins our expectations as members.
How do we know what members want and expect?
We need regular surveys, so that we keep up to date with members’ ideas and wishes. However, communication is not an annual event, so we need other ways to capture ideas on an ongoing basis.
- Annual survey
- Suggestion box for member ideas at each rehearsal
- Complaints procedure. There should be a formal agenda item at all committee meetings
- Open door for ideas
Communication is a two way thing!
- Feedback following committee meetings with a time for member Q&A at the break during the Monday rehearsal after a committee meeting
- Putting our constitution and policies on the website for members and the public to see
- A choir handbook
- Revamp the website and keep it up to date so it is say to find information
More than rehearsals and concerts
- Many of us joined SCS to meet like-minded people and have some fun outside rehearsals and concerts. Possibly not for all, however social events beyond the pub on a Monday are also an opportunity to have fun and raise funds
